What's the difference between an outdoor loafing shed and a horse barn loafing shed?
Size and height, mainly. Outdoor loafing sheds are scaled for smaller animals — lower rooflines and more compact footprints. Horse loafing sheds are taller and larger. Both use the same open-front design.
Are these sturdy enough for goats?
Yes. We know goats climb on everything. Our loafing sheds are built with solid framing that handles goats being goats. Metal models hold up especially well to the chewing and rubbing that goats are famous for.
Can I use a loafing shed for chickens?
You can, but our chicken coops are specifically designed for poultry with features like nesting boxes, roosts, and predator-resistant hardware. A loafing shed is better suited for larger small livestock.
How do I keep the loafing shed from getting muddy inside?
Place it on high ground with good drainage. A gravel pad under and around the shed helps. Orient the open side away from prevailing winds and rain. Some customers add a layer of stall mats on the floor.
